Lufkin, TX — A 37-year-old man was arrested on a DWI charge early Saturday following a single-vehicle crash in the 2000 block of Sayers Street, according to the Lufkin Police Department.

Officers responded around 2 a.m. Sept. 5 and located the vehicle in a wooded area along Sayers Street.

Police identified the driver as Sedric Harper of Lufkin. During the response, officers reported finding a handgun and a baggie containing a white powdered substance inside the vehicle.

Harper was arrested on a charge of Driving While Intoxicated and booked into the Angelina County Jail.

Police said Harper remained in jail on a $2,500 bond at the time of the department's update.

The charge is an allegation. Harper is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
