Chambers County, TX — A Houston man was arrested Wednesday, September 2, after a traffic stop on Interstate 10 led to the discovery of approximately five kilograms of suspected cocaine, according to the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office.

Shortly before 1 p.m., a Chambers County deputy stopped a Chevrolet Malibu on I-10 at Mile Marker 823 near Oak Island Road.

A Texas Department of Public Safety K9 responded to assist and alerted on the vehicle. During a subsequent search, authorities said approximately five kilograms of suspected cocaine were discovered in the trunk.

The driver was identified as Isreal Tanguma of Houston. He was taken into custody and transported to the Chambers County Jail without incident.

Tanguma was charged with felony Possession of a Controlled Substance. The suspected cocaine was seized.

The charge is an allegation. Tanguma is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
