Hardin County, TX — A 32-year-old Silsbee man was killed Thursday morning after a garbage truck overturned and landed on him near Silsbee, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The crash occurred around 5:45 a.m. September 3 on Cravy Lane, just east of FM 418.
According to DPS’s preliminary investigation, the garbage truck was traveling east while the worker was positioned on the exterior left side of the vehicle preparing for the next scheduled stop.
DPS said the driver, a 31-year-old Beaumont woman, went off the roadway into the north ditch, causing the garbage truck to overturn onto its left side and land on the worker.
The 32-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene by a Justice of the Peace. His identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
The driver was not injured.
DPS troopers are continuing to investigate the crash.
