Royse City, TX — Royse City Police Department K9 Bali has received new protective body armor through a charitable donation from Vested Interest in K9s, Inc.
The bullet- and stab-protective vest was sponsored by Brittany Sims and Todd Prather of Greenville and carries the embroidered message, “In memory of K9 Officer Phil Prather.”
Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that provides protective vests and other assistance to law enforcement K9s and dogs serving related agencies across the United States.
According to the organization, the custom-fitted vests are made in the United States and National Institute of Justice certified. Since its founding in 2009, the organization has provided more than 6,631 vests valued at approximately $6.9 million to K9s across all 50 states.
Each vest is valued at approximately $1,800, weighs an average of four to five pounds and carries a five-year warranty.
