Magnolia, TX — A report of an active shooting at Williams Elementary School prompted a large law enforcement and emergency response Thursday, but officials later confirmed the report was a false alarm and no shooting occurred.

According to Magnolia Mayor Chris Blair and the Magnolia Police Department, students, teachers and staff were safe following the response.

Multiple agencies converged on the school within minutes, including the Magnolia Police Department, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, area constables, Texas state troopers and the Magnolia Fire Department.

Blair praised the response of law enforcement and first responders, saying personnel were prepared to protect students and staff if the reported threat had been real.

Magnolia Police said it was thankful the incident proved to be a false alarm and that responders were prepared if it had not been.

No shooting occurred, and officials said the children, teachers and staff were safe.
