Goliad County, TX — A Mexican national identified as Jose Manuel Sanchez Morales was arrested Thursday evening, September 3, after allegedly fleeing from a traffic stop in Goliad, according to the Goliad County Sheriff’s Office.
The Sheriff’s Office said an Operation Lone Star deputy conducted the traffic stop in town after school hours. Sanchez Morales was a passenger in the truck and was identified by authorities as a Mexican national unlawfully present in the United States.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Sanchez Morales fled on foot and was apprehended after he was seen climbing a fence at an elementary school.
Sanchez Morales was arrested on charges of:
• Evading Arrest
• Criminal Trespass
The Sheriff’s Office said that after Sanchez Morales meets his obligations at the Goliad County Jail, he will be turned over to federal authorities for deportation.
The charges are allegations. Sanchez Morales is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
