Harris County, TX — A man was arrested this week after deputies allegedly found him stripping copper wire along a Harris County park trail in west Houston, according to Harris County Constable Precinct 5.
Parks deputies with Constable Terry Allbritton’s Office were investigating ongoing metal thefts when they located the suspect near the 14300 block of Park Row Drive.
Deputies said the man was found with approximately eight pounds of raw, stripped copper wire. According to the Constable’s Office, he was not authorized to possess the material as a licensed contractor, metal recycler or utility worker and was not its lawful owner.
Following the investigation, the Harris County District Attorney’s Office accepted a State Jail Felony charge of Unauthorized Possession of Certain Copper or Brass Material.
The suspect, whose name was not provided in the agency’s release, was taken to the Harris County Jail.
The charge is an allegation. The suspect is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
