Friendswood, TX — A 20-year-old Houston man has been arrested after more than $6,000 in cash was stolen during a burglary at Pearland Coffee Roasters, according to the Friendswood Police Department.
Police said the burglary occurred around 3:36 a.m. September 1 at the business at 201 S. Friendswood Drive. Investigators used video evidence and other investigative tools to identify a suspect and vehicle connected to the case.
The following day, Friendswood officers stopped Tanerio Jenkins, 20, on Highway 3 in Webster. During a search of the vehicle, officers reported finding a backpack containing a firearm, marijuana and $3,600 in cash.
According to police, Jenkins later admitted the firearm had been used in an attempt to open two safes and that the recovered money was connected to the Pearland Coffee Roasters burglary.
The Galveston County District Attorney’s Office accepted a charge of Burglary of a Building against Jenkins. His bond was set at $100,000.
Police said Jenkins is also believed to be connected to multiple business burglaries in the surrounding area. Investigators expect to return the recovered $3,600 to the business owner.
The charge is an allegation. Jenkins is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
