Conroe, TX — A 36-year-old man was arrested after a Flock alert helped Conroe police locate a vehicle investigators had linked to a series of fuel thefts, according to the Conroe Police Department.
Police said investigators had been looking into six fuel thefts over several months from Rent-A-Center delivery trucks parked at 1116 W. Dallas Street. Investigators identified a 2008 maroon Ford F-150 believed to be involved and determined it was displaying a license plate assigned to a Dodge pickup.
The plate information was entered into the Flock Safety system. On September 3, officers received an alert indicating the vehicle had returned to the Conroe area.
Officers searched nearby locations and found the Ford behind rental trucks at The Home Depot at 1341 W. Davis Street. Police said Cory Ferguson, 36, was allegedly caught actively siphoning fuel from one of the trucks and was taken into custody without incident.
Investigators also linked Ferguson to multiple fuel thefts at Rent-A-Center. Police said Ferguson has two previous theft convictions, resulting in the latest theft charge being enhanced to a State Jail Felony.
The charge is an allegation. Ferguson is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
