DeSoto, TX — A 23-year-old Dallas man was arrested after DeSoto police said officers discovered an AR-style pistol and marijuana while responding to a 911 hang-up call Saturday night.
According to the DeSoto Police Department, officers responded around 9:15 p.m. August 29 to the area of the 800 block of E. Pleasant Run Road.
While checking an apartment complex parking lot to determine where the 911 call originated, officers encountered an adult male sitting inside a gray Nissan sedan. Police said the vehicle was unlawfully parked and loud music was coming from inside.
As officers approached, they reportedly observed an unholstered AR-style pistol on the front passenger-side floorboard.
The man was detained and identified as Amyrion Damon Harris, 23, of Dallas. Police said a records check showed Harris had a previous felony conviction and was prohibited from possessing a firearm.
Officers also reportedly recovered approximately 1.6 ounces of marijuana.
Harris was arrested on charges of:
• Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon
• Possession of Marijuana
The charges are allegations. Harris is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
