Longview, TX — Fire crews are working an active fire at the City of Longview compost site after flames spread beyond the compost area and into adjacent woods.
The Longview Fire Department estimates the fire at approximately 3 to 5 acres. Crews are keeping the fire contained while awaiting assistance from the Texas A&M Forest Service.
White Oak Volunteer Fire Department has also responded with water tanker trucks to assist with the water supply.
ACTIVE SCENE
Officials said there is currently NO threat to the public or nearby structures.
Drivers in the area are urged to use extreme caution due to a heavy presence of emergency vehicles.
