San Antonio, TX — A 23-year-old man has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the fatal shooting of Jonathan Alderete at Hemisfair Park, according to an arrest affidavit.
San Antonio police responded before 5 a.m. Sunday to the 600 block of Hemisfair Plaza Way, near South Alamo Street, after receiving a shooting call.
Officers found Alderete, 35, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Investigators determined Alderete had been involved in a fight with a suspect later identified as Isean Hardeman, 23, before the shooting.
According to the affidavit, surveillance video showed Hardeman and three other individuals taking a basketball belonging to Alderete before the confrontation. The affidavit states video also captured Hardeman leaving the area on an e-scooter, abandoning it, running past a downtown hotel and boarding a VIA bus.
Police used the evidence to identify Hardeman and located him two days later at an apartment on San Antonio’s South Side, where he was taken into custody.
Hardeman is charged with:
• Murder — First-Degree Felony
Bond: $250,000
The charge is an allegation. Hardeman is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
