Harris County, TX — One man was arrested and two other suspects escaped after deputies responded to a catalytic converter theft in progress at a U-Haul facility on Antoine Drive, according to Harris County Constable Precinct 4.
Authorities said surveillance cameras captured three suspects allegedly stealing catalytic converters from vehicles on the property.
Deputies arrived as the suspects were attempting to leave. Two fled on foot, while the driver, identified as Jaquan Dean Harrison, remained at the scene.
Investigators reported recovering five stolen catalytic converters from the vehicle, valued at approximately $1,250, along with a reciprocating saw.
Harrison was arrested and charged with Theft of Precious Metals. His bond was set at $15,000.
The other two suspects were not located at the time of the incident.
The Texas Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention Authority highlighted the case as an example of how quickly catalytic converter theft can occur and how multiple vehicles may be targeted at a single location.
The charge is an allegation. Harrison is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
