Zavala County, TX — The Zavala County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division announced the arrest of Carlos Prado Jr. following an investigation involving sex offender registration requirements and alleged child sexual abuse material.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, investigators with the Sex Offender Registration Program learned that Prado had allegedly failed to report multiple social media and online accounts as required by law.
Authorities said Prado admitted during an investigative interview that he had failed to report numerous online accounts. The Sheriff’s Office also alleges that Prado admitted possessing and viewing child sexual abuse material, commonly referred to as CSAM, and said he had additional electronic devices containing such material.
Investigators seized the electronic devices, which are undergoing forensic examination.
Prado was arrested on charges of:
• Failure to Comply with Sex Offender Registration Requirements
• Possession of Child Pornography — Enhanced
The Sheriff’s Office said the investigation remains active and that additional charges could be filed if supported by evidence developed during the forensic examination.
The charges are allegations. Prado is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
