Guadalupe County, TX — James Sterling Waugh has been arrested on warrants connected to the August 30 assault of a Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office deputy.

According to GCSO, Waugh was located at approximately 7:51 a.m. at 742 Ridge Road Drive by members of the Fugitive Apprehension Unit and Patrol Division while deputies were following up on the incident.

Waugh was taken into custody and transported to the Guadalupe County Adult Detention Center.

Authorities said warrants had been issued for:

• Attempted Disarming of a Peace Officer
• Resisting Arrest
• Evading Arrest or Detention

Waugh had previously been the subject of a search in the Ridge Road area. GCSO said a Regional Emergency Alert Network notification sent to nearby residents Sunday night and early Monday morning has ended and is no longer active.

The investigation remains ongoing.

The charges are allegations. Waugh is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
