Sachse, TX — The Sachse Police Department has become the first agency to receive donations from Shielding the Spectrum, a nonprofit organization that supports individuals on the autism spectrum.

The organization was founded by Katelyn Norberg, who previously worked with the Sachse Police Department.

As part of the donation, Sachse patrol vehicles, fire trucks and ambulances will now carry sensory bags containing communication tools and sensory toys.

Officials said the bags are intended to help first responders de-escalate situations and better support individuals who may have sensory or communication needs.

The department thanked Norberg and the Shielding the Spectrum team for helping expand resources available to first responders in the community.
