Bexar County, TX — A now-former Bexar County Sheriff’s Office deputy was arrested after allegedly assaulting a family member while off duty, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Johanna Villanueva, 25, was taken into custody Monday afternoon by BCSO investigators on a charge of:
• Assault Bodily Injury/Family Violence — Class A Misdemeanor
The Sheriff’s Office said a family member reported being assaulted by Villanueva while she was off duty.
Court records show Villanueva’s bond was set at $4,500. Jail records indicate she was released on bond shortly before 5 a.m. Tuesday.
BCSO said Villanueva had worked for the agency for approximately one year. A spokesperson said she resigned in lieu of termination following her arrest.
The Sheriff’s Office said a criminal investigation into the alleged assault remains ongoing.
Court records list Villanueva’s next appearance as tentatively scheduled for October 6.
The charge is an allegation. Villanueva is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
