Muleshoe, TX — The Muleshoe Volunteer Fire Department is mourning the loss of retired Fire Chief Richard Eugene Ronek, who died August 26, 2026, at the age of 70.
Ronek served as Muleshoe Volunteer Fire Department chief from 2004 through 2008 and was remembered by the department for his service, dedication and commitment to the community.
According to memorial information shared by his family, Ronek was born June 16, 1956, and died in McKinney, Texas. He is survived by his wife, Lou Ann, along with children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
A celebration of life is scheduled for September 12 at 4 p.m. at Big Mineral Camp at South Park, 2889 Big Mineral Road in Sadler.
The Muleshoe Volunteer Fire Department asked the community to keep Ronek’s family, friends and fellow firefighters in their thoughts and prayers.
