Houston, TX — Houston police are investigating a suspicious death after a man was found dead inside a closet beneath a staircase at a southwest Houston apartment.

Officers responded around 10 a.m. Monday, August 31, to an apartment in the 10200 block of Harwin Drive following a report of a deceased person.

According to police, a resident told investigators he had been away from the apartment for several days. When he returned, he discovered his roommate dead inside the closet under the stairs.

Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene.

Authorities have not released the man’s identity or determined how he died. The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences is expected to conduct an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.

INVESTIGATION

Houston police are treating the circumstances surrounding the death as suspicious. The investigation remains ongoing.
