Horizon City, TX — Two juveniles were arrested Sunday night after separate e-bike pursuits that followed a reported attempted burglary of a residence, according to the Horizon City Police Department.
Officers responded around 8:31 p.m. August 30 to the 300 block of Duanesburg Street after a resident reported an attempted burglary.
Police said surveillance video showed three masked individuals attempting to gain entry into the home before fleeing on electric bicycles.
A short time later, an officer located three individuals on e-bikes near Kenazo Avenue and Horizon Boulevard who matched the descriptions provided. When officers attempted to make contact, police said the individuals fled.
Authorities said the pursuits continued through residential neighborhoods, pedestrian areas, sidewalks, desert terrain and commercial areas, prompting assistance from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Two juveniles were ultimately taken into custody following separate pursuits. Both were charged with:
• Evading Arrest/Detention with a Vehicle
• Evading Arrest/Detention
• Reckless Driving
The juveniles were transported to the Juvenile Probation Department and released to juvenile detention personnel. Two e-bikes were also impounded.
Police said the investigation into the original attempted burglary did not establish that any property was stolen from the residence.
The charges are allegations and are subject to the juvenile justice process.
