Tarrant County, TX — A 31-year-old man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison after pleading guilty to the murder of an Uber driver in North Richland Hills, according to the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office.
Prosecutors identified the defendant as Kane Roden.
The case stemmed from the early morning hours of May 7, 2025, when Roden ordered an Uber to the 8000 block of Mickey Street in North Richland Hills.
According to the District Attorney’s Office, 60-year-old Tahirou Diallo arrived as Roden’s driver. Prosecutors said Roden was highly intoxicated when he pulled out a gun and shot Diallo, killing him.
The District Attorney’s Office said Diallo was widely regarded as a pillar of the community.
During the court proceedings, a letter from Diallo’s widow was read aloud. In it, she wrote that the plea would not bring her husband back, but said Roden would now be “off the streets” and unable to hurt anyone else.
The Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office credited North Richland Hills Police Detective Joe West for his work on the case.
Assistant District Attorneys Bill Vassar and Tyler Coleman prosecuted the case.
