Horizon City, TX — A 24-year-old driver was arrested after allegedly fleeing from police during a traffic stop on Eastlake Boulevard, according to the Horizon City Police Department.
Police said an officer conducting proactive patrol around 9:44 p.m. Friday, August 28, observed a vehicle traveling 83 mph in a posted 45 mph zone in the 13400 block of Eastlake Boulevard.
The officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver allegedly failed to stop and continued at a high rate of speed. Police said the vehicle abruptly changed lanes, nearly striking another vehicle, before continuing through residential streets.
Officers pursued the vehicle until it eventually stopped near Celtic Drive and Sarum Drive.
The driver was identified as Carlos Almeralla III, 24. He was taken into custody without further incident and booked for Evading Arrest or Detention with a Vehicle.
According to police, Almeralla told officers he was traveling to Montana and later said he “wanted to see if officers were going to pull me over.”
Bond: $20,000
The charge is an allegation. Almeralla is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
