El Paso, TX — The El Paso Police Department and El Paso International Airport have a new explosives detection canine team following the graduation of Officer Martinez and K9 Odi from a rigorous 12-week TSA training program.
Officer Martinez and Odi completed the TSA Explosives Detection Canine Handler Course, which included academic and practical training. Martinez also earned the distinction of serving as class leader.
The team will now undergo local acclimation and final duty certification before beginning work to help protect travelers, airport personnel and the El Paso community.
The department also recognized Sgt. Flores, who was selected from K9 supervisors across the country to serve as keynote speaker at the graduation ceremony.
