Bellaire, TX — A suspicious-person stop led Bellaire police to a suspect allegedly connected to multiple vehicle burglaries and two stolen vehicles, according to the Bellaire Police Department.
Police said Officer Ramirez encountered a man dressed in black and carrying a black bag around 4 a.m. August 26 in the 4500 block of Sunburst.
While Ramirez was speaking with him, the man allegedly ran from the officer but was taken into custody shortly afterward.
Investigators said they later determined the suspect had burglarized numerous vehicles, stolen a vehicle and arrived in the area in another stolen vehicle.
Police reported recovering stolen property from the vehicle burglaries inside the black bag. Officers also located the recently stolen vehicle where authorities said it had been hidden and recovered stolen license plates.
The suspect was identified as Jerry Robert Royal McDaniel.
McDaniel was charged with:
• Burglary of a Motor Vehicle
• Fraudulent Use/Possession of Identifying Information
• Resisting Arrest
• Theft of Property Valued at $30,000 to $150,000
Police said the investigation resulted in multiple vehicle burglary cases being solved, two stolen vehicles recovered and stolen property returned.
All charges are allegations. McDaniel is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
