Arlington, TX — A two-alarm commercial fire prompted the evacuation of neighboring businesses Sunday afternoon after smoke was reported coming from the roof of a business in the 2200 block of N. Collins Street.
According to the Arlington Fire Department, crews were dispatched around 2:04 p.m. The first unit arrived to find black smoke coming from the building.
Because of the type of building and extreme heat conditions, firefighters immediately requested a second alarm to bring additional personnel and resources to the scene. Businesses in the adjoining strip center were evacuated as a precaution.
Firefighters located and attacked the fire, bringing it under control less than 15 minutes after the first unit arrived. Crews contained the flames to the business where the fire originated, preventing the fire from spreading to neighboring businesses.
No firefighters or civilians were reported injured.
The Arlington Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
