South Texas — A U.S. Border Patrol K9 helped agents uncover cocaine concealed inside a vehicle at the Javier Vega Jr. Checkpoint, according to the agency’s Rio Grande Valley Sector.
Border Patrol said a suspected smuggler attempted to transport a load of cocaine through the checkpoint when a K9 alerted agents to narcotics hidden inside the vehicle.
Photos released by the agency show multiple packages concealed within a compartment of the vehicle.
The Rio Grande Valley Sector credited the K9 detection with helping agents discover the concealed narcotics.
Border Patrol did not provide the weight or estimated value of the cocaine in the information released.
