Bishop, TX — K9 Aida with the Bishop Police Department has received new protective body armor through a charitable donation from Vested Interest in K9s, Inc.

The bullet- and stab-protective vest was custom fitted for Aida and embroidered with the message, “In memory of Don Fike.”

Vested Interest in K9s is a nonprofit organization that provides protective vests and other assistance to law enforcement K9s across the United States. According to the organization, its U.S.-made K9 body armor is certified by the National Institute of Justice.

Since its establishment in 2009, the organization has provided more than 6,513 protective vests valued at approximately $6.9 million to K9s in all 50 states.

Each vest is valued at approximately $1,800, weighs an average of four to five pounds and carries a five-year warranty.

K9 Aida can now continue serving alongside Bishop Police officers with an added layer of protection while on duty.
