Austin, TX — Austin police are searching for a suspect after an unidentified man was found dead inside a vehicle that had crashed into a fence Sunday afternoon.
According to the Austin Police Department, officers responded around 2:58 p.m. August 30 to a reported shooting/stabbing near the intersection of Briar Hill Drive and Woodland Avenue.
Officers arrived and found a vehicle that had crashed into a fence. Inside, they discovered an adult male suffering from apparent trauma. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police immediately began canvassing the area. Witnesses reportedly saw a suspect fleeing shortly before officers arrived.
SUSPECT DESCRIPTION
• Young Hispanic male
• Late teens to early 20s
• Approximately 5 feet, 6 inches tall
• Slender build
• Black long-sleeved top covering his skin
• Black bottoms
• Black backpack worn on his chest
APD homicide detectives and Austin Forensic Science crime scene specialists responded and are interviewing witnesses and gathering evidence, including surveillance video.
No arrests have been made. APD said the case remains an active and ongoing investigation and is being investigated as Austin’s 39th homicide of 2026.
