Harris County, TX — One person was killed and another hospitalized early Saturday morning after two vehicles collided head-on on the Eastex Freeway, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to 13849 Eastex Freeway after receiving a report of a wrong-way driver.
Authorities said two vehicles were involved, with one person driving each vehicle. One driver was pronounced dead, while the other was transported to a hospital. That person’s condition was not immediately known.
An intoxication investigation is underway involving the wrong-way driver, according to the sheriff’s office.
TRAFFIC IMPACT
The northbound/outbound lanes of U.S. 59/Eastex Freeway are closed, with traffic being diverted toward the East Mount Houston Road exit.
Drivers should expect delays and avoid the area while authorities remain at the scene.
