Klein, TX — Harris County ESD 16 firefighters responded to a series of emergencies Friday night as severe storms moved through the area, including two simultaneous house fires believed to have likely been caused by lightning strikes.
According to the Klein Fire Department, crews responded to residential structure fires in the Wimbledon Forest and Olde Oaks areas on August 28.
The storm also generated calls involving:
• Gas leaks
• Fire alarms
• Downed objects
• A vehicle caught in a flash flood
• Multiple electrical hazards
• Two simultaneous residential structure fires
The department said its eight fully staffed fire stations, along with multiple apparatus and mutual-aid agreements with surrounding departments, helped crews handle the surge in emergency calls.
No injuries or additional details regarding damage from the two residential fires were provided.
