Kaufman County, TX — A 39-year-old Forney woman was killed and an 8-month-old child suffered suspected serious injuries in a two-vehicle crash early Saturday morning on U.S. 80.

Texas DPS and Highway Patrol responded around 4:25 a.m. to U.S. 80 near the exit lane to FM 460.

According to the preliminary investigation, an Infiniti QX3 traveling eastbound in the FM 460 exit lane made an unsafe left lane change and struck a Chevrolet Silverado traveling eastbound in the right lane.

The impact caused the Silverado to strike a concrete barrier and roll over, coming to rest on its roof. The Infiniti continued eastbound before also striking a concrete barrier.

The Silverado driver, Juana Berenice Chavez Ojeda, 39, of Forney, was transported to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

An 8-month-old child was also transported to a hospital with suspected serious injuries.

The Infiniti driver, Jaylin Maliq Chestnut, 25, of Converse, and two passengers were not injured.

The investigation remains ongoing.
