College Station, TX — An intoxicated driver struck a College Station Fire Department apparatus Friday night while firefighters were blocking a lane to protect emergency responders working a crash scene.

The incident happened in the 100 block of Wellborn after the driver was reportedly leaving the Northgate Bar District.

According to the College Station Police Department, the fire apparatus had been positioned to shield responders as they worked to clear an earlier crash.

No firefighters, police officers or members of the public were injured.

The damaged apparatus serves as a reminder of the risks impaired drivers create not only for themselves, but also for first responders and everyone else on the roadway.

DON’T DRINK AND DRIVE

Plan a safe ride before drinking, designate a sober driver or use a rideshare service.
