Dallas, TX — A Dallas Fire-Rescue crew is being recognized for lifesaving actions that helped a gunshot victim survive a medical emergency and eventually walk out of the hospital neurologically intact.
According to Dallas Fire-Rescue, medics from Fire Station 23 treated a man who had suffered a gunshot wound. The crew applied a tourniquet and administered two pints of blood as they worked to keep him alive.
The patient later went into cardiac arrest, but the crew continued treatment and stabilized him enough for critical transport to a hospital.
Following the transfer of care, the patient was taken directly into surgery.
Dallas Fire-Rescue said the man ultimately recovered and was able to walk out of the hospital neurologically intact.
The department recognized the Fire Station 23 crew for its rapid response and lifesaving medical care.
