Beaumont, TX — A 28-year-old man has been charged with murder after a disturbance at a Beaumont apartment complex left another man dead early Saturday morning.
Beaumont Police responded around 5:45 a.m. on August 29 to Sunlight Manor Apartments, 2950 S. 8th Street.
Police said witnesses reported that Alejandro Richard, 28, was assaulting another man inside an apartment. When officers arrived, they allegedly found Richard on top of the victim and detained him.
The victim was unresponsive. Officers provided emergency medical aid until EMS arrived and took over treatment.
The man was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Beaumont Police Crime Scene personnel and criminal investigation detectives responded to investigate.
According to the preliminary investigation, Richard and the victim knew each other, and police said the incident was not a random act of violence.
Richard has been charged with:

The investigation remains ongoing.
The charge is an allegation. Richard is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
