Harris County, TX — A woman is dead and her husband remains in critical condition following an apparent murder-attempted suicide Friday morning in the 7400 block of Sunlit Harbor in west Harris County, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
Homicide Sgt. Michael Ritchie said Precinct 5 Constable deputies were called to the neighborhood shortly after 11 a.m. after a neighbor spotted two adults down outside — one on a sidewalk and the other in the street.
Deputies and EMS personnel performed life-saving measures before both were transported to hospitals. The woman was later pronounced dead, while the man remained in critical condition. Both suffered gunshot wounds.
Investigators said the two were married and lived several houses away from where the shooting occurred.
According to Ritchie, the woman was on the phone with a friend while she and her husband were reportedly arguing. The friend heard gunshots and called 911 after the woman stopped responding.
Investigators said the couple has three children, but all were at school when the shooting occurred and none were involved.
The circumstances leading to the shooting remain unclear. Based on information gathered so far, investigators believe the incident may have been a murder-attempted suicide.
The man was initially transported to Memorial Hermann Katy before being transferred to a hospital in downtown Houston.
