Harris County, TX — A driver was arrested after authorities said the driver crossed a physical barrier into occupied HOV lanes on the Katy Freeway, causing a major crash that injured three people.
According to Harris County Constable Precinct 5, deputies with the Toll Road Division responded to the crash on the Katy Freeway near State Highway 6.
Investigators determined the driver had been stopped in traffic in the general-purpose lanes before crossing a barrier consisting of delineator poles and entering the HOV lanes, where other vehicles were traveling.
Authorities said the maneuver resulted in a major crash that left three people injured. All three were transported to area hospitals for medical treatment.
Following the investigation, the driver was taken into custody on a charge of Reckless Driving and transported to the Harris County Jail.
The identity of the driver and conditions of those injured were not provided.
The driver is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
