San Antonio, TX — An off-duty Bexar County Sheriff’s Office deputy was arrested early Friday after San Antonio police accused him of driving while intoxicated.

The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office identified the deputy as 26-year-old Daniel Hernandez-Villarreal.

According to a preliminary San Antonio Police Department report, officers stopped Hernandez-Villarreal for speeding on westbound Interstate 10 near Huebner Road. He was subsequently taken into custody on a DWI charge.

Following the arrest, BCSO issued Hernandez-Villarreal a notice of proposed dismissal and placed him on paid administrative leave pending termination.

SAPD is conducting the criminal investigation into the arrest, while the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a separate internal investigation.

Hernandez-Villarreal is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
