Montgomery County, TX — Lake Conroe served as a training ground this week as local, state and federal agencies conducted realistic rescue exercises designed to prepare crews for complex emergencies.

According to the Montgomery County Precinct 1 Constable’s Office, participating agencies included the Texas Department of Public Safety, U.S. Coast Guard, Conroe Fire Department, Montgomery County Hospital District and U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 6-9.

Training scenarios included helicopter rescues directly from Lake Conroe and hoist operations from elevated locations, including rooftops.

Officials said the exercises allowed crews from multiple agencies to practice the coordination, communication and specialized skills needed when responding together during emergencies.

The Constable’s Office said joint training also gives participating agencies a better understanding of each other’s capabilities before an actual emergency occurs.
