Montgomery County, TX — Three Montgomery County-area firefighters are back home with their families after spending the past two weeks working long days on wildfire lines across Texas.
New Waverly Fire Department Lt. Cyle Metz led the wildland firefighting crew and was joined by Ethan Wilson and James Yardley of Montgomery County ESD Fire Department.
According to New Waverly Fire Department, the returning firefighters worked across Texas during their two-week deployment.
As they return home, another crew made up of New Waverly and Montgomery County ESD personnel has taken their place at the Ross Fire in North Texas, continuing the mutual-aid response.
The deployment allows departments to assist communities facing major wildfires while also providing their firefighters with additional experience responding to large-scale wildland incidents.
Welcome home, and thank you to the crews continuing the mission.
