Houston, TX — A Houston firefighter who graduated from the department’s training academy just one month ago remains in critical condition following an off-duty medical emergency, according to the Houston Professional Fire Fighters Association Local 341.

Probationary Firefighter Carleon Jones suffered the medical emergency while playing basketball Wednesday evening.

Jones is being treated in the intensive care unit at Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital. He is assigned to Houston Fire Station 20, A Shift.

Houston Professional Fire Fighters Association President Patrick M. “Marty” Lancton said Jones is at the beginning of his career serving Houston and asked the community to keep Jones, his family and the medical team caring for him in their thoughts and prayers.

Association representatives are with the Jones family and said additional information will be provided as appropriate.
