Horizon City, TX — A 34-year-old man was arrested after police said he struck an unattended vehicle and left the scene in Horizon City.
According to the Horizon City Police Department, officers responded to the 1000 block of Kenazo Avenue on August 24 regarding a hit-and-run involving an unattended vehicle.
Investigators reviewed available evidence and identified the driver as Jose Marcos Jasso Jr. Police said Jasso admitted to striking the parked vehicle and leaving without stopping. Officers also recovered evidence connecting the vehicle to the collision.
Jasso was taken into custody on a charge of Duty on Striking an Unattended Vehicle. A records check also revealed several outstanding traffic warrants.
A magistrate found probable cause and set bond at $2,500 on the new charge. Jasso was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility.
Horizon City Police reminded drivers that Texas law requires motorists involved in a collision with an unattended vehicle to stop and fulfill their legal responsibilities.
The charge is an accusation. Jasso is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
