Harris County, TX — A woman is facing multiple charges after deputies said she drove while intoxicated and later threatened the life of a constable deputy while being transported to jail.
According to Harris County Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman’s Office, deputies responded to a disturbance in the 5500 block of Green Timbers Drive on August 27 and detained a woman identified as Rosaelia Smith.
Investigators determined Smith had an outstanding warrant for Public Intoxication and alleged she had driven to the location while intoxicated.
Smith was arrested on the outstanding warrant and charged with Driving While Intoxicated – Third Offense.
Authorities said that while Smith was being transported to the Harris County Jail, she threatened the life of the arresting deputy. An additional charge of Harassment of a Public Servant was accepted.
Smith was booked into the Harris County Jail on the Public Intoxication warrant and the DWI and harassment charges. She was awaiting bond out of the 185th District Court at the time of the department’s announcement.
Smith is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
