Greenville, TX — Greenville firefighter Allen Pruitt is preparing to trade his firefighting gear for boxing gloves as he steps into the ring September 12 for Guns N Hoses.
Pruitt said preparing for the fight has challenged him both physically and mentally, requiring extensive training, difficult rounds and time away from home.
“I’m really grateful for the opportunity to step into the ring for Guns N Hoses,” Pruitt said. “This has been a challenge physically and mentally, with a lot of training, hard rounds, and time away from home, but it’s all been worth it.”
FAMILY MOTIVATION
Pruitt credits his wife with supporting him throughout the early mornings, late nights and sacrifices required during training. He also draws motivation from his 14-month-old daughter.
“She may not understand it now, but hopefully one day she’ll look back and be proud of her dad for giving it everything he had,” Pruitt said.
Pruitt said boxing has taught him discipline, humility and perseverance while thanking his coaches, training partners, friends and others who have supported him.
The September 12 Guns N Hoses event brings first responders together in the boxing ring while supporting a community cause.
