Jack County, TX — A deer feeder stolen from private property while deputies and firefighters were responding to dangerous fire conditions Wednesday night has been recovered, according to the Jack County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said a landowner in the Rock Creek Road area had left access to the property unlocked so firefighters could enter and protect lives and property.
During the emergency response, a suspect allegedly entered the property and stole a large deer feeder.
Game cameras captured images of the truck and trailer allegedly involved, giving investigators information to pursue.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, investigators followed leads and conducted interviews that ultimately took them into Young County, where the stolen feeder was recovered and returned to its owner.
The Sheriff’s Office said an arrest warrant will be issued for the suspect. No name or charges were provided in the initial release.
Sheriff T-Bob Hauger condemned the alleged theft and emphasized that the department will not tolerate people taking advantage of residents during disasters or emergency responses.
