Conroe, TX — A Conroe Police Department drone helped officers locate a person needing assistance early August 22 after a concerned friend provided authorities with only a Life360 location near Cowboy Kia.

At approximately 2:40 a.m., dispatch received the call but had no description of the person or vehicle.

Police immediately deployed a Drone as First Responder (DFR) aircraft to search the area. The drone arrived before responding officers and began scanning the surrounding area.

While searching along Interstate 45, the DFR pilot spotted a passenger vehicle stopped on the shoulder with its hazard lights activated and observed movement inside.

The pilot relayed the vehicle’s location and observations to responding officers, who arrived shortly afterward and confirmed the person inside was the individual the caller was concerned about.

Officers checked on the person, provided assistance and determined he was okay.

According to Conroe Police, the incident demonstrates how its DFR program can help search large areas and provide officers with real-time information before they arrive at a scene.
