Tyler, TX — A 33-year-old Van man has been sentenced to five years of deferred probation and ordered to repay $64,000 he took from a 71-year-old woman.
Levy Aaron Lee pleaded guilty August 3 to tricking the woman into paying for roof repairs she did not need. Court records say he and a co-conspirator caused damage themselves and covered it poorly.
Lee must pay $1,300 a month, complete community service, take a theft intervention class, earn a GED within a year, and write the victim an apology letter. Judge Kerry Russell warned that missing even one payment could mean up to 20 years in prison.
