Texas — A long-running investigation into an alleged petroleum theft ring has led to six arrests and a large asset seizure.
Starting August 12, DPS’s Organized Oilfield Theft Prevention Unit and partner agencies served 17 search warrants in Texas and Oklahoma over the alleged trafficking and resale of stolen petroleum products.
Seizures included:
• 60 vehicles valued at about $2.85 million
• more than $786,000 in cash
• about 2,600 barrels of petroleum products valued at more than $220,000
• jewelry and luxury watches valued at about $443,000
• eight bank accounts with an estimated $8 million
Warrants were served in Reeves, Rockwall, Kaufman, and Hunt counties in Texas and Garvin County, Oklahoma.
Six people, including members of a company’s corporate leadership, were arrested and face state charges. More arrests and seizures may follow.
They are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
