Lubbock, TX — The parents of a young woman have sued United Supermarkets and Albertsons after a sexual assault inside a Lubbock Amigos store bathroom in April.
Police said Judah Hew later admitted to the attack in the women’s restroom. Good Samaritans chased him down in a nearby neighborhood. He remains in jail on charges of sexual assault and indecent exposure.
The lawsuit, filed in Lubbock County, seeks more than $1 million. It claims the store and area had a history of robberies, assaults, and a prior indecent assault inside the store, and that the companies failed to provide enough security or warning.
United Family said after the April incident that guest and employee safety was a top priority and that it would increase security. The companies said they do not comment on pending lawsuits.
Hew is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
