Willis, TX — A 15-year-old Willis ISD student has been charged with Terroristic Threat after allegedly making statements about “shooting other students in the classroom” Thursday, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
The Sheriff’s Office said School Resource Officers assigned to Willis High School responded immediately after being notified of the alleged threat and took the student into custody.
The student is being held at the Montgomery County Juvenile Detention Center.
Authorities emphasized that threats involving schools — whether verbal, written, made online or presented as a joke — will be taken seriously and may result in criminal charges.
The Sheriff’s Office is urging parents and guardians to speak with their children about the serious consequences of making threats involving schools.
Officials are also asking students, parents and residents who become aware of a potential school threat to report it directly to law enforcement or school officials rather than sharing unverified information on social media.
