Harris County, TX — An investigator with Constable Mark Herman’s Animal Cruelty Unit arrested a man Thursday after video showed him beating a dog.

The call came from the 3800 block of Broken Elm Drive. Jeremy Deandre Cleveland identified himself as the owner of Zues, a 10-month-old male American Bully, and admitted striking the dog with a plastic toy.

The investigator reviewed the video and saw Cleveland holding the dog in place and striking him about 13 times with an object using significant force. The dog can be heard reacting in the video.

Cleveland also had nine active traffic warrants through Harris County Precinct 4.

He was booked into the Harris County Jail for cruelty to a non-livestock animal by an owner and the traffic warrants. He is awaiting bond out of the 263rd District Court.

He is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
